Okay, now I’m pissed. Now I’m really. Fucking. Angry.
Yesterday I was reading another one of the many blogs I have favourited. It, like mine, is a personal blog. And the author, like me, has a lot of things to say. However, she’s been far braver than I ever dare be and has not enforced a form of self-censorship on her posts. Shes writes about whatever she wants, whenever she wants. And it seems some people are not too happy about this.
So I decided to fold to the masses and join this Music Monday thing. There’s two reasons I did this, but first the song:
Reason One: Crap came up and as a result I haven’t been able to write a decent enough post for today. Granted, a post with a music video and nothing else is hardly a replacement for my trademark wit and sense of humour, but well…meh
Reason Two: I actually like sharing my music with people, in the desperate hopes that somebody else will like it too. I like to feel like part of a group. I will warn you now.
And so I present you with the song Vapor from a personal favourite of mine, Necessary Response. Now, to me, lyrics are incredibly important to a song, as is supporting the artist. So before I go any further:
If you like it, But the Album! A lot of my bands are small time indie acts, which don’t earn a full time wage from their music. They don’t have multi-million dollar studios behind them. Every little bit helps.
Lyrics:
Eternally alone, not today
In you this void just goes away
In this distant foreign land
I won’t be forgotten.
Complicated I know, life’s this way
And you’re half the world away
And my holds slipping from your hand
As I walk you to the gate
And we’re so far here, from home
And we have just one night
(Chorus)
And I’m not lying alone here,
I will stay with you until tomorrow comes
And I know, what you know
You won’t be forgotten
I kept you a secret I don’t know why
I guess its easier to live a lie
Its no ones fault, well wait again
The sky turns black and starts to rain
You know I want you
You know I need you to be near
You know I’ll fight for
You know I’ll cross this,
Ocean just to be with you
We’ll live our lives
And we’re so far here, from home
And we have just one night.
(Chorus x 2)

That is the question.
It seems everywhere I go and every blog I visit this Entrecard widget thing is there. Like an ever-present spot or blemish.
I’ve kind of got a tainted view of Entrecard at the moment. Most (about 90%) of the blogs I see with it are cheap money-grabbing blogs that hurt your eyes to look at. I know that’s not the fault of Entrecard, but it still hasn’t stopped my opinion being rather lopsided. I’ve long since debated the use of it. While it would get me visitors, I’m always worried that the widget I add will be the one to make my blog look tacky. And I really don’t want that.
Granted some blogs are still looking good and strong even with it. (Yay! Link spam!) So I suppose that’s a plus. It’s much the same dilemma that I face with Music Mondays. I want my blog to be a success (or hell, even just cover its costs) but I also want integrity. I guess I’ll flip a coin or something. Unless anyone out there decides to speak up on the merits of the Entrecard way of life.
Another downer to the idea is the recently introduced “Paid EC” system, which seems to be gathering a lot of bad press. I personally see nothing wrong with it. Sure, it means Entrecard is less fair to small time blogs, but with the economy the way it is they kind of were forced into bringing in some way of making money. No website that large is run cheaply.
Argh! So many choices!
I was listening to the radio just about half an hour ago, one of those radio talk shows where people call in and desperately grab their thirty seconds of fame. Well, one lady in particular called in complaining about how her little ten year old boy was drawing violent pictures of stick figures at war. Seemed she was desperate to find out what she had done wrong to raise such an evil creature.
Whether or not you noticed, I have recently moved my hosting plan to a new web host. You probably didn’t notice that. But what you would have noticed is the new domain name. So let me make this announcement as clear as I can.
PLEASE REDIRECT ALL LINKS/FAVOURITES TO: REVELATIONSZERO.COM
There. That ought to send a message to the whole, what? Four people who happen to show up each day.
I made the decision to move hosting and get a domain name because of the trouble I was having with my old one. The major turrning point was not the glitch on their host that made it impossible to install or activate plugins. Nor was it the fact that a free host looks cheap. But when, in visiting my own site, Norton announced that the domain name had been found guilty of six different threats to my computer I made the decision to leave.
It wasn’t me though. The domain name (netne.net) was shared by other freely hosted websites, and one of them was found guilty. Unfortunately this caused a warning to popup on my website too, something I did not want happening. I’m legit, honest! Let that be a lesson to everybody, free hosting is never good. If you want a decent and respectable website, get your own paid domain name and hosting account. I happened to luck out. Some guy in my area has a paid account and was renting out webspace to people. Super cheap too, like $2 a month. Plus only $8 a year for a domain name. He had posters up all over my area and my college. Thank you stranger!
That’s all for today. See you all on Wednesday.
